Cotton Duck

We had the most incredible dinner at Cotton Duck on Holt St, Surry Hills last night. When we arrived, they had just wrapped up filming something and the place was buzzing.

At Cotton Duck you have the option of two courses for $55 or four courses for $85. We broke all the rules and asked if we could order three courses each (which worked out to be the perfect amount)
We were given a complimentary amuse bouche of asparagus wrapped in crispy pancetta.
I started with a smoked salmon terrine, the flavours were incredibly light, the perfect way to start the dinner.

My main was the duck and onion 'sandwich' which isn't really a sandwich at all. Beautiful thins slices of rare duck were presented with a slow cooked shredded duck meat in the middle that had a middle eastern flavour to it and crispy thin round slices of deep fried bread with onions. We shared peas with mint to accompany our mains.

I had the pumpkin pie for dessert. I've never tried pumpkin pie before and I was told last night by a fellow diner that this pumpkin pie is quite different to the norm. It was presented like a slice of lemon curd tart only the colour tone of pumpkin and sweet with a hint of pumpkin flavour served with a brandy snap.
The food and service at Cotton Duck is fantastic. Congratulations to Jared Ingersoll for a brilliant addition to his Danks Street Depot empire.
