I finally had the opportunity to visit Iggy's sourdough bakery in Bronte today. This hole in the wall set up has a cult following and I was expecting a queue to equal that of the Bourke St Bakery but I was pleasantly surprised. Iggy's is tucked away in Belgrave St, Bronte but is definitely worth tracking down. They only sell sourdough in various forms. I bought half of a country sourdough as the whole one is huge and is priced at $13.
The outside of the bread is well cooked and crispy and the inside has a very well developed sourdough flavour with a perfect texture. I had a piece with Lurpak butter on it and I was in heaven.
I think this is the best sourdough I have ever eaten!
If you are after a coffee when in the area, it's worth checking out Favoloso cafe across the road.
