House

I think House is the most exciting addition to Sydney Thai food in quite some time. Located on Elizabeth St in Surry Hills.
I finally had a chance to check it out on Saturday night and it certainly lives up to the hype.

Prepare for an assault on your taste buds and a huge hit of chilli.
House is the new restaurant by the team that brought us Spice I Am.
Unlike most Thai food, House doesn't usually use coconut milk so the curries are more like a broth of fiery proportions.
We had a divine green papaya salad, but don't be fooled by the soothing sound of the papaya as the salad is laced with birds eye chillies, a chilli lovers dream but not so good for people that aren't huge chilli fans.
The larb ped was another highlight. Minced duck fried with ground roast rice, green onions, deep fried shallots and chilli, it comes with a cup filled with cucumber sticks, cabbage leaves and holy basil. These calming vegetables soothe our burning mouths.
I highly recommend leaving room for dessert. BTS (Better Than Sex) isn't listed on the menu.
A thick slice of brioche is toasted and topped with green pandan, coconut icecream and drizzled with palm sugar syrup. It is so rich, I think it's best shared but so incredibly delicious.
Just like it's sister restaurant, you can't book for House (unless you have a group booking of more than ten)
You can always have a drink next door at Triple Ace Bar while you wait for a table.
I think House could be the most authentic Thai food I've ever eaten.
