Vini

We were back at Vini last night for another of the special regional dinners. This time the region was Sicily, what a gastronomic adventure we were about to embark on! Vini continues to blow me away, the food is just incredible.

We started with sesame seed encrusted bread served with ricotta covered in honey. Sardines with fennel, raisins and pinenuts and zucchini flowers stuffed with salted cod and potato.
The next course was spaghetti with tuna, tomato, green olives and capers. This dish was incredibly fresh and really embodied the flavours of a region that has a big seafood influence.
The main course was slow cooked lamb, with lamb meatballs and eggplant served with a tomato based salad. This dish had such a well developed flavour and the meat was so tender.
Our dessert was a cassata icecream served with Italian cookies and a very good coffee.

I still have to pinch myself that I have a restaurant this good in such close proximity.
I'll definitely be returning for more regional dinners in 2011.
